November 30, 2017: USCMO Secretary General and colleagues met with Minister-Counselor Mr. Dmitriy Zhirnov and Russain officials to raise the concerns of the American Muslim community regarding the Rohingya genocide and Russia’s stance in this regard. Despite political differences over Myanmar’s ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya, both parties agreed to the necessity of an impartial investigation of atrocities committed against the Rohingya, including Russian representatives, and that the Rohingya humanitarian condition constitutes a major crisis demanding immediate and collaborative efforts to resolve. USCMO delegates also discussed with Russian officials the outcome of the meeting at Sochi between Presidents Putin of Russia, Erdogan of Turkey, and Rouhani of Iran and expressed concern for a forthright and earnestly expeditious resolution to the devastating conflict in Syria.
