USCMO Supports 2018 Farm Bill Priorities and Urges Congress to Protect (SNAP)

The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) supports food and nutrition services and programs aimed at ending hunger and poverty. We believe that all communities have a right to access nutritious, sufficient, affordable and culturally appropriate food. USCMO supports Goal 2 of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations which calls for ending hunger and achieving food security around the world by 2030

Farm Bill Reauthorization

The Farm Bill embodies many of our nation’s food security policies that impact families and communities in America and developing countries, helping to curb hunger and malnutrition. The Farm Bill is up for Congressional reauthorization in 2018.  Any reauthorization must protect against hunger by strengthening federal nutrition assistance programs; increase access to affordable, nutritious food for vulnerable populations; and support good nutrition and health. Each of these priorities supports and strengthens the others, and none should be supported at the expense of the others. At the most basic level, the Farm Bill should do no harm and make an even greater contribution toward the goal of ending hunger.
