(New York, 09/05/2019) — US Council of Muslim Organizations Secretary General Oussama Jammal met with H.E. Miguel Moratinos, High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), at his office in New York to discuss collaborating on the critical issue of safeguarding places of worship.
Mr. Jammal invited Mr. Moratinos to speak at the upcoming interfaith consultation United to Confront Violence Against Places of Worship, September 19, 2019. The event marks a first for religious communities in America, planned and organized by USCMO, the National Council of Churches USA (NCC), Religions for Peace USA (RFP), and the World Council of Churches Ecumenical UN Office (WCC) at the Church Center of the UN, across from UN headquarters. Mr. Moratinos welcomed the invitation as a timely event for the pivotal audience of communal representatives in America to promote the UN’s newly strategized Plan of Action to safeguard religious sites.
