USCMO Condemns Texas Synagogue Hostage Taking, Grateful for Their Rescue Unharmed

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/15/2022) – The US Council of Muslim Organizations, on behalf of our member institutions and American Muslims, stands in complete solidarity against antisemitism with the Jewish community and condemns the evil, unjust, and unjustifiable hostage-taking of members of the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas in the midst of their worship. We praise God for their safe release and thank the law enforcement authorities who came to their rescue and are grateful for their swift and tactful response and safe return, as well.

“We join with Muslims across America in expressing our solidarity with the Colleyville and broader American Jewish community and our grateful relief for their safe release,” said Council Secretary-General Oussama Jammal.

“This heinous attack on a synagogue, a sacred and inviolable place of worship – and its congregants in the act of prayer – is utterly unacceptable. Whoever the attacker is and whatever his claimed motivations, there can be no excuse for this horrific crime. We praise God for their return to their loved ones.”

“We commend and fully support the Dallas-Fortworth Muslim community for their solidarity, long, and strong friendship with the congregation of Beth Israel synagogue.”

The prayers of the US Council of Muslim Organizations and American Muslims remain with our Jewish brethren who have endured this horrific ordeal and all their loved ones, well-wishers, and rescuers.
