Dallas, TX.; (4/13/2023)—The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), the nation’s umbrella group of national, regional, and local Muslim organizations, proudly congratulates the Muslim American Society-Islamic School of Irving (MAS-DFW) and its sponsored ITKAN robotics team. This groundbreaking team has recently made history by advancing to the FIRST® World Championship, thus becoming the first All-Muslim FRC team in the United States.
Based in Dallas, Texas, MAS-DFW & ISI – ITKAN Robotics FRC#9128, a rookie robotics team, has achieved an astonishing feat in their inaugural year of competition. Not only did they qualify for the FIRST World Championship, but they also ranked 8th out of 240 teams from across Texas.
The team’s remarkable performance at the Texas State Championship last week has earned them a well-deserved spot in the world championship. The USCMO commends this team for their dedication, hard work, and inspiring accomplishment, which sets an example for future generations of Muslim American students.

“Our team is incredibly proud to have achieved this milestone in our very first year of competition,” said Dr. Mohamed Ebeida, research scientist and founder of MAS & ICI – ITKAN Robotics FRC#9128. “We are honored to be the first all-Muslim FRC team in the United States to compete at the world championship, and we hope to inspire other young Muslims to pursue their dreams in the field of robotics.”
The team’s achievement has been well-recognized by local officials and politicians, including the Mayors of Irving and Richardson, Dallas Commissioner Court Dr. Garcia and John Wiley Price, State Rep Terry Mezza, Congressman Colin Alred, and Beth Van Dyne. The team members expressed their gratitude for the support and guidance they have received, and they are committed to continuing their mission.
As the team prepares for the world championship, they ask for the community’s continued support and prayers. “We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from our community,” said Dr Mohamed Ebeida. “With your prayers and encouragement, we hope to make history once again at the FIRST World Championship.”
