Mubarakah Ibrahim is an internationally recognized Muslim health and fitness expert, businesswoman, and influential voice on Islam in America. As the daughter of pioneers from the Brooklyn State Street Masjid of Dar-ul-Islam (DAR) movement, she represents the second of four consecutive generations of African American-born and raised Muslims in America. Mubarakah gained prominence on Oprah Winfrey’s "Thirty-Something in America" in 2008 as a Hijab-wearing personal trainer and business owner.
With an extensive fitness education—including an interdisciplinary Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Public Health, and Psychology, and over 13 certifications in fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle - her commitment to women's health and fitness has earned her invitations to President Barack Obama’s White House Iftar Dinners and features in the New York Times and Chicago Tribune. Integrating her profound knowledge of Islamic studies with her health advocacy, Mubarakah empowers women through her education and leadership.
She leads by example—embodying a lifestyle of health and fitness through competitive powerlifting, as demonstrated by her winning the Masters Gold at the United States Powerlifting Association National competition in 2023, where she set multiple state records. This achievement not only underscores her versatility as an athlete but also highlights her dedication to living a life that inspires and sets a standard for others, all while building a lasting legacy as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
