USCMO to Congress: ‘End This Catastrophic War. Pass Iran War Powers Resolution’

(Washington, D.C., 2/28/2026) – The US Council of Muslim Organizations, America’s umbrella group of Muslim associations, sent a letter today to all U.S. Senators and Representatives to stop President Donald Trump from continuing to wage the unauthorized and illegal war he initiated with Iran today, and which killed in its first bombing wave 115 schoolgirls between 7 and 12 years old when a directed smart bomb struck their school building.

His motive for capitulating to commit the U.S. military and the American people to fight Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s and his Zionist supremacist, apartheid government’s war is highly suspect and an insulting and humiliating breach of the American people’s trust.

It is Congress’ duty to exercise its collective war powers authority under the Constitution on behalf of the nation, and for the sake of our service men and women put needlessly at risk in the dubious interests of the dogmatic zealots of a rogue foreign entity.

“The Constitution is clear,” said David Javonsky of the non-partisan Project on Government Oversight (Pogo), strongly condemning Trump’s unilateral strikes on Iran:

“Congress has the sole authority to declare war. The president’s announcement today that the US has conducted military strikes in Iran without congressional approval is yet another flagrant abuse of power by this administration. Significant military actions should have more than the sole backing of a single leader – that’s why the Constitution requires the people’s representatives to make these decisions.”

Trump Illegally Evaded Congress, But It’s Not Too Late to Act

Trump is, by law, required to give Congress at least 48 hours’ notice before troop deployment. Asked how much notice time he gave Congress, Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine said bluntly: “Zero. The evidence suggests that the Secretary of State called the Speaker of the House, and that was it. We did not receive notice.”

“The White House knew that I had a war powers resolution [cosponsored by republican Sen. Rand Paul] scheduled for a vote by the Senate early next week. I assume they wanted to try to rush the initiation of an illegal war before Congress had a chance to vote on it.”

Kaine has called Congress to return immediately, noting its members can still put the War Powers Act into effect even after Trump has initiated hostilities.

These strikes are “a deeply consequential decision that risks pulling the United States into another broad conflict in the Middle East,” said Sen. Mark Warner, vice-chair of the select committee on intelligence.

Republican Rep. Thomas Massie concurred, calling the strikes “acts of war unauthorized by Congress.” And Rep. Jim Himes, the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, labelled the strikes “a war of choice with no strategic endgame.”

Many of Trump’s staunchest MAGA supporters are vehemently against Trump launching a war at the command of the Israelis, singlehandedly transforming his celebrated America First foreign policy into an Israel First policy and repeating the 2003 Iraq war, which he constantly criticized in his campaign as a betrayal of America.

Tucker Carlson, the most popular broadcaster in the nation and a staunch America First supporter, today bluntly called Trump’s strikes “disgusting and evil.”

Americans Do Not Want War

Americans overwhelmingly do not want to fight Netanyahu’s and the Israeli’s latest war of choice. Some 70% stand against U.S. military action on Iran, according to a mid-January Quinnipiac poll.

At least 70% say they want Congress to do its Constitutional duty and insist the president gets Congress’s vote of approval for this war.

Nearly 80% of Americans objected to or had qualms about the U.S. military initiating an attack on Iran, according to a February 5th to 9th University of Maryland poll. Some 74% U.S. Democrats and 51% of Independents opposed this U.S. assault on Iran, with 55% of Republicans against or unsure about a U.S.-initiated attack, the poll reports.

Congress Must Vote on Iran War Powers Resolution

This war on Iran may potentially sacrifice thousands of America’s sons and daughters on the delusional Zionist idol altar of “Greater Israel,” which they have long plotted to impose across the Middle East.

Netanyahu last August openly declared himself “very much” committed to this “Greater Israel” project to illegally swallow Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan, and take possession of significant parts of Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. By all accounts, these Israeli fanatics can only hope to achieve this Zionist dystopia by subjugating the U.S. government through its politicians and manipulating them to deploy the U.S. military and to spill the precious blood and treasure of the American people.

It Is Strategically Unwise for Our Military to Fight Another Israeli War of Choice

Netanyahu, his ultranationalist supremacist government, and their cadre of deeply and highly embedded domestic operatives here have already exhausted the U.S.’s dangerously depleted vital military ordinance supply and caused our national debt to skyrocket.

Netanyahu government and its U.S. minions’ stranglehold on U.S. politicians rubberstamping of all Israeli U.S. munitions’ demands – last June perilously depleted U.S. munitions, which “fell to dangerously low levels” in just 12 days of Israeli aggression against Iran. Even pro-war, pro-imperialist defense assessments acknowledge that the U.S. has not had the 1.5 years minimally needed to replenish these munitions.

The Shocking Israeli War Price Tag Past & Future for Americans

Biden and Trump forced the American people, in just two years, to shell out $30+ billion and counting for the Israelis and their still ongoing U.S. coautored Gaza genocide.

We had our pockets picked again in March and April 2025 for another $2 billion for the failed month-long U.S. airstrike war on the Houthis in Yemen.

The Israelis again forced the American people to foot a staggering estimated $1 billion a day bill just in direct military costs for the misguided 12-Day Israeli-Iran war that Netanyahu launched without U.S. knowledge or agreement, and which ended up duping Trump into the U.S. June 2025 Iran nuclear facility bombing.

Immediate costs for a full U.S. invasion of Iran will reportedly top an astounding $1.7 trillion in war costs alone, far exceeding the previous Gulf War.

Strait of Hormuz Closed: ‘The Price of Everything Is Going to Skyrocket’

Iran has already reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world’s oil passes (oil is projected to jump as high as $200 a barrel if the conflict becomes extended). If Congress allows this war to drag on, it may well collapse the global economy, potentially ringing up a $20+ trillion price tag.

Just from Trump’s Israel-first war launch today and the Hormuz closure, it will be early summer before supply chains reset, with effects lasting through the second economic quarter.

Shipping insurance premiums had already surpassed a six-year high in Trump’s Israel-first buildup to this war. Market observers predict the war will cause insurers to refuse policies for any businesses connected to the U.S. or with Israeli ties, and for others prices will rise manifold.

None of the Arabian Gulf ports will be able to work around this closure. Containers will sit there indefinitely causing heavy container congestion in ports throughout the Middle East and will severely curtail Red Sea-linked shipping through Bab el-Mandeb, with Iran’s Yemeni Houthi allies threatening to “escalate attacks” on vessels, as well.

High Risk of War Spreading

Trump’s cave to the Israelis may spark a major regional war. Within hours of this Israeli-U.S. aggression, every country in the Gulf and Jordan was bombed. Nor is it out of the question for this irresponsible Israel-first attack on Iran to spark World War III, which realistically could become nuclear.

Congress must not allow Trump to continue this war of utter calamity for the sake of an imperialist colony run amok, for this Israel-first war of choice, a war that has absolutely no bearing on real U.S. interests or the well-being of our nation.

We need a congressional Iran War Powers Resolution now to curtail President Trump’s capacity to continue this ill-conceived, evil Israel First war. This Israeli-driven war harms the American people and their serving men and women. It risks a regional and world war. And it threatens to plunge the global economy into depression for the sake of an arrogant and wayward foreign entity.

Congress, pass an Iran War Powers Resolution that ends this catastrophic war.
