(Washington, D.C., 3/28/2026) – The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), America’s umbrella group of Muslim associations, denounces Netanyahu and Israel’s war crime of bombing Iran’s civilian nuclear power facilities for their expressly evil and irresponsible aim of, yet again, undermining sensitive U.S. and Iranian ceasefire negotiations and hopelessly ensnaring President Trump in the war escalation trap of committing U.S. ground troops to fight and die in a purposeless bloodbath for Netanyahu and Israel’s illegal war of choice against Iran.
This Israeli aggression, if not stopped immediately, will end in a certain military catastrophe for the U.S. and plunge the world into unavoidable economic collapse and a global depression that will harm and kill millions.
Negotiated settlement between the U.S. and Iran is the best-case scenario for America and the global economy. If we allow the Israelis to continue to march the U.S. and Iran up war’s escalation ladder, the consequences for the international economy will be devastating for years to come.
The Danger of Global Depression
It is not just 20% of the world’s oil that runs through the Strait of Hormuz, but a third of the world’s fertilizer, a third of global helium supply, and 25% of the world’s pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturing ingredients, while half of the U.S. generic drug supply from India transits through the vital strait.
Without fertilizer, farmers across the globe will have problems planting and harvesting. Food prices will jump. Inflation will soar while job growth collapses, meaning the return of stagflation not seen since the 1970s. This combination will result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands around the world. The potential for disaster cannot be overstated.
Israelis Destroying US Global Relationships
The Israeli goal, say countless observers, is to ensure that all potential off-ramps from war for the U.S. are taken off the table, while carrying out a rampage of assassinations specifically targeting moderate Iranian leaders.
The stated Israeli theory is that decapitation of Iranian leadership through assassination will cause Iran’s government to collapse. This is a historically demonstrated falsehood.
The Israeli’s are pursuing a deliberate policy of forcing the U.S. to damage the economies and its relationships with its most important global allies. If even the war ends now, what is the state of U.S. alliances and the strategic logic for its allies around the world?
The U.S. has now done significant damage to its global allies, Japan, India, South Korea, and Europe. This has been and continues to accrue disastrously for all of them.
Instability is returning to Iraq, where the war significantly endangers U.S. military and administrative personnel and assets as it spills over. The negative consequences of this war are extensive, with no end in sight.
The economies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have already contracted by at least 15%. Yet the Israelis seek to provoke their total destruction by bombing Iran’s energy infrastructure, despite Trump’s promise of a 10-day halt.
Israeli strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure – an intended slap in the face of Trump – have sent South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan into resource tailspins, leading them to question their alliance with and dependence on the U.S.
US Ground Force Assault Will Ensure a Long-Term Quagmire
If Trump commits U.S. troops to a ground assault on Iran, the president will have crossed a line from which there is no return.
“The most important question is no longer what Trump says next. It is whether the [troop] build-up we are now seeing continues,” says Robert Pape, professor of political science at the University of Chicago. “Because if it does, the trajectory of this war is no longer uncertain. It is accelerating.”
It is noteworthy that there has been a sharp spike in conscientious objector applicationsamong U.S. troops across all military branches since this war began, with applicants stating they “do not want to die for Israel.”
At least 61% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the war, and 59% say U.S. military action against Iran is excessive.
The US Council of Muslim Organizations strongly urges Americans to voice their opposition to committing U.S. troops to this feckless war of choice for Israel, to pull President Trump back from the snare he is about to step into, by sending in ground forces.
End this Israeli war of choice now before more American troops are needlessly killed and the American people and the world suffer catastrophic economic hardship.
