(Washington, D.C., 10/1/2025) – The United Nations’ Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has recognized Ahmed Shehata, CEO of Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), as an Eminent Advocate for his dedicated support of refugees both through his leadership at IRUSA and in his personal capacity.
Ahmed has served as a humanitarian for more than 20 years. In 2024, he spearheaded a groundbreaking partnership between IRUSA and UNHCR to raise $25 million for refugees worldwide over the next five years. As an Eminent Advocate of UNHCR, he will lead a global campaign to mobilize support in rebuilding a hopeful future for Syria.
