(Washington, D.C., 4/5/2026) – The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), the nation’s largest umbrella group of national and local Muslim organizations, today urged Congress to immediately reconvene and force an end to the war with Iran before President Donald Trump can follow through with his “unhinged” threat to bomb Iranian civilian infrastructure, endangering millions of Iranian civilians, in violation of U.S. and international law. USCMO also strongly condemned the President’s apparently mocking reference to Almighty God, Allah (SWT).
Earlier today, President Trump posted a profane message on social media threatening attacks on key infrastructure in Iran and also said “Praise be to Allah.”
In a statement, USCMO Secretary-General Oussama Jammal said:
“President Trump’s unhinged rhetoric is beyond the pale, even for him. The President knows that any bombing of essential infrastructure such as power plants would have devastating humanitarian consequences for millions of civilians, including the elderly, children, and hospital patients. Such actions would violate fundamental principles of international law, as well as U.S. law.
“Equally troubling is the misuse and mockery of Islamic language in his profane and violent message. Mockingly invoking a sacred phrase praising God using His proper name in Arabic is an insult to the world’s Muslim community. Every Muslim nation and population should take note of the disregard.
“At a moment of heightened global tension, Congress must not remain idle. Lawmakers have a constitutional responsibility to immediately reconvene, assert their authority over decisions of war and peace, and vote to end this war before the President kills thousands of Iranian civilians and escalates the regional war even further, with global consequences.”
USCMO also noted that this latest statement follows a series of past remarks that have contributed to the dehumanization of Muslims and heightened fears of broader conflict
