USCMO Celebrates a Successful East Coast National Muslim Women’s Leadership Conference

Eyes on the West Coast Conference Coming in November

This past weekend, September 26–28, in Dallas, Texas, the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations hosted the National Muslim Women’s Leadership Conference (East Coast), welcoming more than 150 registrants from across the country. Sisters traveled from every corner of the United States to gather under the theme Leading With Noor (Light). The energy in the room was powerful and unifying, as women of diverse backgrounds came together to reflect on what it means to lead with faith, conviction, and purpose.

The momentum continues as USCMO prepares to host the West Coast Women’s Leadership Conference in California on November 7–9, where the spirit of Leading With Noor will once again bring women together to inspire, connect, and empower.

The conference explored the interconnected themes of Faith, Power, and Impact. Sessions challenged participants to think deeply about how faith informs leadership, how Muslim women can claim and amplify their power in today’s world, and how our collective impact shapes the future of our communities. The gathering was filled with heartfelt dialogue, spiritual reminders, and powerful calls to action. Every conversation carried the reminder that the light of Allah (SWT) manifests in our voices and that Muslim women’s leadership is not only vital but transformative.

What set this conference apart was the sense of true sisterhood. It was not only a meeting of minds, but also a sanctuary for the soul. Women shared their stories, lifted one another up, and celebrated each other’s contributions. It was an embodiment of what happens when Muslim women are centered, affirmed, and given the space to shine.

We are also honored to feature the reflections of Lish 2x in her blog Witnessed By Lish. In her thoughtful piece, she writes openly about the importance of uplifting African American Muslim voices and how this conference provided a platform for those voices to be heard and valued. Her words remind us that true unity requires embracing and celebrating the full diversity of our ummah. In her blog post, she wrote:

“A moment in particular that proved this point: an elderly Pakistani sister gently remarked that she had never before seen so many knowledgeable, eloquent Black American Muslim women leading conversations. While some might take offense to such a statement, the sentiment struck us differently. We were having casual conversations at breakfast in the hotel, speaking freely, and it raised a thought. How could we expect any other perception when so many of us had been silently denied platforms in non-Black Muslim spaces? This weekend was a luminous reminder that the nur Allah entrusted to us as Black Muslim women is meant to shine, and shine it did.”

Alhamdulillah, the National Muslim Women’s Conference was a beautiful reminder that when Muslim women lead with light, they illuminate the path forward for all of us. The weekend was not simply a series of workshops and panels, but an experience of faith, resilience, and unity that will continue to inspire action long after the final session.
